Raymond Fox Profiled by the San Diego Business Journal

Raymond Fox is the architect medical professionals around the U.S. call on to design new medical offices or transform an old building into a “model of modern medicine,” the San Diego Business Journal recently wrote.

The profile, “Raymond Fox’s Skills Are in High Demand,” published April 4, explores the San Diego-based medical architect’s thoughtful and experienced approach to creating health care facilities that are both functional and comfortable.

“When we go to the doctor, we want to feel like we’ve been heard, we count. We don’t want to feel we’ve been shuffled through the office,” Ray told the Business Journal. “I’m constantly weighing how do I make this patient’s personal experience as good as possible.”

Several Raymond Fox & Associates clients told the publication that Ray’s expertise and creativity are often noticed by their patients. “We’re routinely told by people who come into our office that it’s the nicest office they’ve ever seen anywhere in the country,” John Alexander II of Alerus Surgery Center & MedSpa said. “People are blown away by the space.”

Palomar Health President and CEO Diane Hansen discussed Raymond Fox & Associates’ work on three new medical office buildings at the Palomar Escondido campus, as well as other projects the team has done for Palomar. “We’ve been thrilled with what we’ve been able to accomplish with Ray’s assistance.”

Raymond Fox Discusses Center’s ‘Patient-First’ Architectural Approach

The first of three medical office buildings, all designed by Raymond Fox & Associates, being built on the Palomar Medical Center Escondido campus is complete. This achievement, part of the medical facility’s $110 million expansion, was highlighted by San Diego-area and health care industry publications.

“The floor plans put a priority on a ‘patient first’ thinking process. Ease of movement, short distances between spaces, patient privacy and a sense of ‘being cared for’ were the focus for the project. This includes exam rooms that allow for interactive experiences between patients, physicians and other providers and administrative areas for staff to communicate privately with patients,” RFA Principal Architect Raymond Fox said in a statement.

The articles highlight the partnership between Palomar, Raymond Fox & Associates, interior design firm FS Design Group and contractor Align Builders in achieving medical office designs that prioritize efficiency and wellness.
